Still reading Aspect Emperor, book2 now.

So, it is taking me awhile. Partly due to very busy schedule lately. Some new video games taking up my time, etc. But also partly due to not loving the book as I expected to. I do still like it, but it's definitely not cracking my top 10.

Kellhus as a POV character seems to be gone, and that's unfortunate. It's more or less 3 adventure stories. We are going somewhere, a part of a war into some unknown destination. The main problem I have is that it's dragging along. The Achamian story is just simply taking too long. Nearly 2 books to go from point A to point B. And almost nothing has happened. We barely know more than we knew about this Nonman or the Captain. We learned a tiny bit about the judging eye.

Another issue is the battles. I think Bakker is good at describing fight scenes and battles. The issue is that it's all Human vs Sranc. It's similiar to how you might describe 100 humans fighting 100,000 dogs, over and over. Throw in some sorcery and there's not much to it.

All in all, it is still good. Just not great like PoN was.
